GACA retains an art vendor booth with the Austin
Farmer's Market located downtown. This booth is available to all
current GACA members.
Visibility at the Market is a great way to promote GACA and your work
to the community.
Market Information
The information listed on
www.austinfarmersmarket.org superceeds the following information:
- Located downtown on 4th and Guadalupe
- 2008 season is year round from January 5th to December 27th
- Open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Set up begins at 7:30 a.m.
- Booth fee is $30 for a 10' x 10' booth space
Artist Information
As a member of GACA, you are representing GACA to the community and we ask you to follow these guidelines:
- Follow the Market's rules
- Provide your own tent and display tables
- Display the GACA banner (currently missing) in your booth; the banner is stored in the Market's storage shed on site
- Bring your own business cards and the GACA and artist information flyer
- Follow the GACA rules for canceling. Important, see below: if you don't show up without calling first we may lose the booth space for all GACA members.
- Make sure your membership is current
- Be mindful that there are several members interested in selling at the Market and consider sharing the booth space
- Make sure you're available and don't forget you've signed up; if you do not show up, you will still be responsible for the booth fee
Signing Up
GACA uses the Yahoo Groups Calendar to sign up for the GACA booth space at the Market. The name of the Yahoo
Group is
gaca_afm.
To sign up for gaca_afm:
- Go to www.yahoogroups.com.
- If you don't have a Yahoo user name, click Sign Up and follow the Yahoo instructions for setting up a user account.
- Once you have a Yahoo user name, click Sign In and enter your Yahoo username and password.
- Search for the Yahoo Group: gaca_afm. Enter gaca_afm and click Search.
- Click gaca_afm if it shows up from the search. If it doesn't show up, email the moderator, Valerie Harrington, to let her know you'd like to join the group and she can send you an invitation.
- Click Join This Group.
- Fill in the information.
- Enter the Word Verification.
- Click Join.
- When you see Membership Confirmed, email the moderator, Valerie Harrington, to let her know you've joined the group.
To sign up for the Market:
- Go to www.yahoogroups.com.
- Click Sign In and enter your user name and password.
- Under My Groups, click gaca_afm.
- On the gaca_afm site, click Calendar on the menu on the left.
- Using the calendar on the right, click the arrows to navigate to the month you want.
- Click the Saturday you want. If there is no other name on that date, you can sign up.
- Click Add Event.
- Enter your name in the Title field.
- Click Save.
- If there is already a name on the date, consider contacting the
member to ask if they'd like to share a booth, or continue looking for
an available date.
Promoting GACA at the Market
People at the Market are often interested in
knowing more about GACA. You can download an MS Word document from the
GACA website to update, print, and take to the Market.

Sharing a Booth
Sharing the booth space is a great way
to get to know other GACA members and save a little on the booth fee.
Post a message to the gaca_afm group to ask if anyone would like to share a booth.
Canceling
GACA has a great opportunity being at the Market.
It is very important that you follow these guidelines for canceling so
that we retain our good standing with the Market.
For 2008, the Farmer's Market has decided to enforce a new rule for No Show, No Call:
If a vendor does not call to cancel for 3 times during the year, the vendor will be expelled.
The market prefers to know about cancellations in advance, and wants to avoid the messy and obvious ‘holes’ in the market
because the presentation of the market and enhancing the ‘community’ feel is one of their best assets.
Canceling in advance
If you need to cancel a date in advance, which
would be any time up until the Wednesday before the Saturday you are
signed up for, email the gaca_afm group to let them know that the date
is available.
Canceling last minute
If you need to cancel the Thursday or Friday
before the Market, please contact Valerie Harrington at 512.452.8706 so
that she can contact the Market Coordinator, Suzanne Santos. If Valerie
isn't available, contact Suzanne at the Sustainable Food Center,
512.236.0074 ext 1.
Canceling saturday morning
If you need to cancel the morning of the Market,
please contact Valerie Harrington at 512.452.8706 so that she can
contact the Market Coordinator, Suzanne Santos. If Valerie isn't
available, try calling Suzanne at the Sustainable Food Center,
512.236.0074 ext 1, or on her cellphone at 512.797.1195. If
possible, go or send someone to the Market that morning to let them
know you're unable to set up.
No Shows
If you do not show up without doing any of the
above, you will be responsible for paying the $30 booth fee to the
Market. Contact Suzanne Santos at the Sustainable Center, 512.236.0074
to arrange payment.
Posting Messages
If you'd like to ask questions, share your
experiences, or cancel a date you've signed up for (cancel in advance
only), you can do so by posting a message:
- Go to www.yahoogroups.com.
- Click Sign In and enter your user name and password.
- Under My Groups, click gaca_afm.
- On the gaca_afm site, under Messages on the left-hand menu click Post.
- Enter a subject and content.
- Click Post.
